TDI Intro to Technical Diving

The TDI Introduction to Technical Diving course introduces you to the world of technical diving. This course is designed as an introductory course to the TDI Advanced Nitrox and TDI Decompression Procedures Courses. The objective is to familiarise you with technical equipment configurations, to enhance open water diving skills (such as buoyancy, trim, and situational awareness), and to introduce you to advanced gas planning techniques within a no-decompression context.

This course is strictly a no-decompression course; you are permitted to use enriched air nitrox (EAN) mixes, provided the gas mix is within your current level of certification.


  • Minimum certification is Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent
  • Provide proof of 25 logged open water dives
  • Be medically fit to dive
  • Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent
  • Students are expected to have read the course manual and completed all reviews before the start of the course

Course Outline:

  • Home study knowledge Development with classroom support to ensure a thorough understanding of the basic principles of technical diving.
  • Minimum number of classroom and briefing hours is 6.
  • 3 Open Water dives to review your skills.
  • All Open Water dives conducted at depths within the diver’s current level of certification but no dives shall exceed 23 metres
