TDI Decompression Procedures

This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. The objective of this course is to train you how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45 metres. The most common equipment requirements, equipment set-up and decompression techniques are presented. You are permitted to utilize Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN) mixes or oxygen for decompression provided the gas mix is within your current certification level.


  • Minimum certification of Advanced Open Water diver or equivalent
  • Minimum certification of Enriched Air Diver, TDI Nitrox Diver, or equivalent
  • Show proof of 25 logged open water dives
  • Be medically fit to dive
  • Minimum age 18
  • Students are expected to have read the course manual and completed all reviews before the start of the course


  • All materials and certification fees
  • Classroom instruction
  • Confined water dive to review safety and basic dive skills
  • 4 open water dives, 2 of those dives deeper than 30 metres, entry fees not included
  • Equipment hire available on request

Course Outline:

  • Home study knowledge Development with classroom support to ensure a thorough understanding of the basic principles of technical diving
  • Minimum number of classroom and briefing hours is 6
  • Confined water dive to review safety and basic dive skills
  • 4 Open Water dives to review your skills with a minimum accumulated bottom time of 100 minutes.
