Open Water SCUBA Instructor

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor programme is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the Instructor Development Course, you will learn to use and adapt the PADI system of diver education to individual student needs. Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both student and peers. Once qualified, Open Water Scuba Instructors can conduct a wide range of PADI programmes from Discover Scuba to Divemaster.

The minimum time required for the online study for this course is 3 days, while 5 days are required for the classroom study.


  • Age 18 years or older
  • Have been a certified diver for a minimum of 6 months
  • PADI Divemaster certification
  • PADI Assistant Instructor certification


  • A minimum of 100 scuba dives before entering the Instructor Examination
  • Have completed a recognized first aid course within the previous 24 months
  • Have undergone a medical examination and cleared for diving by a physician within the previous 12 months


  • All practice pool sessions
  • All Open water training (any site entry fees not included)
